Placement Guidelines

At Dance Fusion, our goal is to place each student in a class where they can learn, grow, and be positively challenged.

We believe that proper placement is key to building confidence and ensuring steady progress. A class that is too easy may lead to boredom, while one that is too difficult can create frustration. For this reason, most students will remain at the same class level for 1 to 3 years—and that’s perfectly normal. (Please note: our most advanced dancers are at Level 4.)

Age and Level Progression
When students move up in age groups, it is common for them to begin at a slightly lower class level in the new age range. For example, a student in a 6–8 Level 2 class may move into a 9–14 Level 1 class as they grow older. This ensures they are building strong technique within an age-appropriate environment.

Approach to Advancement
Every student is evaluated individually, and placement is based on multiple factors including age, experience, technique, and maturity. However, we believe it is more beneficial for a dancer to move up a level when they are ready, rather than be placed in a level that may not yet be the right fit. Starting at a lower level allows dancers to develop a solid foundation and experience success as they progress.

Recommendations & Questions
Placement in classes Level 2 and above may require a teacher recommendation and is subject to instructor approval. If you have questions or concerns about your child’s class placement, we kindly ask that you reach out via email to:
📧 dancefusionco@yahoo.com

Please do not approach teachers between classes, as this time is dedicated to class transitions and student supervision. We’re happy to discuss placement and progression via email, and we’ll gladly schedule a time to connect further if needed.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!

Safety Policy
To help ensure a safe and secure environment for all students, we kindly ask that families follow the procedures outlined below:

Drop-Off
Chaperones are encouraged to walk their student into the studio. If you choose to drop your student off at the curb, please do so at your own discretion and risk.

Pick-Up
Parents or guardians should arrive before class ends to pick up their child. Students should not be left waiting in the lobby unattended, unless they are familiar with and understand your family’s rules.
Students are always welcome to wait or do homework in the student lounges.

Alternate Pick-Up
If your child will be going home with someone other than the person who dropped them off, please inform your student and email the studio to ensure clear communication.

Studio Departure
Students should never leave the studio without an approved adult.
If your child has permission to cross the street for snacks (e.g., to 7-Eleven), please communicate this with them directly. DFC is not responsible for students who choose to leave the premises.

Thank you for working with us to keep our dancers safe, supported, and informed.

Dancer Etiquette
To maintain a respectful, focused, and safe learning environment, all students are expected to follow the guidelines below:

The first 15 minutes of class are essential for a proper warm-up. For safety reasons, students who arrive late may not be allowed to participate in class that day.

Classroom Behavior

Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may result in the student being asked to sit out in the lobby.

Positive Attitude
Dancers should enter class ready to learn and give their best effort. A respectful, open-minded attitude creates a stronger and more enjoyable class for everyone.
